The Transform option gives you the flexibility to switch between different block types without losing your content or styling.
It’s a fast and efficient way to experiment with layouts or upgrade a block to a more advanced version — all while keeping your existing design intact.
How It Works
Not every block supports transformation, but many of the Composite Blocks that share similar structures can be switched between related types. For example:
- Grid ↔ Carousel
- Text List ↔ Icon List
- Composite Block → Advanced Block
When you transform a block, UiCore automatically keeps all of your content, styling, and layout settings — so you don’t have to rebuild or reapply them manually.
Tip: The Transform option can be found in the block toolbar (the icon with two arrows). Click it to see all compatible block types available for transformation:
Which Blocks Can Be Transformed
The Transform feature is part of the native Gutenberg editor, but UiCore extends it with extra compatibility across its custom blocks.
You’ll find it available for many layout-based or composite blocks that share a similar internal structure.
Here are some common examples:
- Grid ↔ Carousel – Quickly switch between static and sliding layouts:
- Text List ↔ Icon List – Add icons next to text items with one click:
- Composite → Advanced Block – Convert to full editing control for deeper customization:
Note: Transforming into an Advanced Block is a one-way action — once converted, it can’t be switched back to a Composite Block.
